Books
- How to Build a Healthy Brain by Kimberley Wilson: A deep dive into how brain health, mental health, and emotional health are intertwined with physical health, with numerous suggestions for lifestyle modifications to improve all of the above.
- Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker, PhD: In a must-read for anyone who doubts the need to prioritize sleep, a sleep researcher lays out the science behind our mysterious nighttime habit.
- Real Self Care by Pooja Lakshmin, MD: Cutting through the self-care and wellness industry crap, Dr. Lakshmin describes how to really take care of your mental health (hint: it has nothing to do with a nine-step skincare routine or bubble baths).
- The Brain Health Kitchen by Annie Fenn, MD: Nearly a brain health textbook for lay people, it includes a ton of gourmet-caliber recipes as well (though most are probably best for leisurely weekends or staycations if you are a busy parent or care partner)
- Growing Joy by Maria Failla: This (adorable) book is a bit of a niche recommendation as it involves houseplant care, but there are also a bunch of tips and information about using nature and plants, inside and out, to help manage stress.
